Dave Roberts reveals troubling video of Many Machado as “unsettling” after watching the Video

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts described a recent incident involving San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado as “unsettling” after watching video footage of Machado throwing a ball toward the Dodgers’ dugout during Game 2 of the NLDS. The throw, which occurred in a contentious game after the Padres’ Fernando Tatis Jr. was hit by a pitch, seemed directed toward Roberts. Although the ball didn’t hit him due to a protective net, Roberts expressed concerns about the intent behind the throw, calling it disrespectful and unsettling.

Roberts initially didn’t see the incident during the game but became alarmed after reviewing the footage. Machado, who had a past relationship with Roberts from his time with the Dodgers, dismissed any ill intent, saying he had already “moved past” the situation and was focused on future games. Despite Machado downplaying the event, Roberts remained bothered, suggesting there was some intent behind the throw, further fueling tensions between the two teams

The incident between Manny Machado and Dave Roberts occurred during a heated moment in Game 2 of the National League Division Series (NLDS) between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. After Dodgers pitcher Jack Flaherty hit Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. with a pitch, tensions flared, leading to a verbal exchange between Machado and Flaherty. While on defense later in the game, Machado threw a ball toward the Dodgers’ dugout, which Roberts interpreted as being directed at him after reviewing video footage.

Roberts, who didn’t witness the event live, expressed his discomfort and displeasure, stating that the throw had intent behind it, although he wasn’t sure what provoked it. The presence of a net prevented the ball from hitting anyone, but Roberts was still disturbed by the act, considering it disrespectful, especially given his past relationship with Machado from when the player briefly played for the Dodgers in 2018

Machado acknowledged the incident but minimized its importance, indicating he had moved on and was focused on the remainder of the series. Roberts, on the other hand, questioned why Machado wasn’t ejected for the throw, calling for greater accountability for such actions during the game
