Steve Cooper Confirms Wilfred Ndidi and James Justin Will Miss St. James’ Park Clash Due to Knee Discomfort

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has confirmed that key players Wilfred Ndidi and James Justin will not travel for the upcoming match against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park after both players experienced discomfort in their knees. The news comes as a blow to Forest, who are preparing for a crucial Premier League fixture without two of their most important defensive assets.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference, Cooper provided an update on the players’ conditions: “Unfortunately, Wilfred Ndidi and James Justin will not be with us for the trip to Newcastle. Both players have experienced some discomfort in their knees, and after consulting with the medical staff, we’ve decided it’s best not to risk them for this match. We’ll continue to monitor their recovery closely over the next few days.”

Ndidi, known for his defensive prowess and ability to shield the backline, has been a vital part of the team since joining from Leicester City. His absence is expected to leave a gap in the midfield, as his ability to break up play and provide cover will be sorely missed.

James Justin, who has also been a key figure in Forest’s defensive setup, has struggled with injuries in the past, and the club is taking extra precautions to ensure he does not aggravate the issue. Justin’s versatility, able to play both as a full-back and a central defender, makes him a valuable asset to the team, and his absence will present a challenge for Cooper’s defensive options.

With Newcastle posing a tough challenge at home, Forest will need to make tactical adjustments in the absence of two of their starters. Cooper, however, expressed confidence in the depth of his squad and his players’ ability to step up: “It’s never easy to lose players of Wilfred and James’ quality, but we have a strong squad, and I believe in the guys who will come in to do the job. We’ve prepared well, and we’re ready for the challenge.”

Forest fans will be hopeful that both Ndidi and Justin recover quickly, as the team looks to maintain their form in the league and avoid further injury setbacks.

The exact timeframe for their return remains unclear, but the club has indicated that further assessments will determine their availability for upcoming fixtures.

*As Nottingham Forest head to St. James’ Park without two of their key players, Steve Cooper will be looking to inspire his side to overcome adversity and secure a positive result.
