|Done deal : Three players added from the practice squad for Jets game
In the last month of the regular season, players have been sidelined due to
injuries sustained late in the game. RB Before the Week 14 bye week, Brian
Robinson sustained a hamstring injury against the Miami Dolphins, and he hasn’t been able to fully practice since.
Washington has signed RB Derrick Gore from the practice squad in his place as he
is out again this week. In preparation for the Rams game last week, they moved
Jonathan Williams up from the practice squad; however, he sustained a concussion and is still under protocol.
Gore had to be added to the 53-man roster after exceeding the season
elevation cap, having been elevated for three games this season (Eagles, Bears, Giants). He has primarily been used
when elevated on special teams, but in his most recent game against the Giants, he had two carries for 23 yards. Running
backs Chris Rodriguez and Antonio Gibson will start for Washington, and FB/TE Alex Armah is also available.
Following the longest snappers’ worst-ever NFL performance, Cheeseman
moved on, proving to be a problem that is detrimental to the team and its players. The following day, Tucker
Addington signed on to the practice squad, and he has been working with punter Tress Way and kicker Joey Slye
throughout the week. Addington was added to the practice squad and will start all three of the remaining games at a higher position
OL Nolan Laufenberg of Washington was also promoted from the practice squad in
preparation for the New York Jets road game tomorrow. Both of the offensive linemen that the Commanders lost last
week have been ruled out. Nick Gates will reclaim his starting position at center, which he lost to Tyler Larsen, while Cornelius Lucas will take Charles
Leno Jr.’s place at left tackle. As a result, Laufenberg fills in for Washington’s OL depth in an emergency.
