Breaking news:Ohio State supporters are losing it, and in the process, they’re turning off recruits.
|Ohio State Fans Are Melting Down, And Turning Off Recruits In The Process
What a wonderful time of year to be a Michigan supporter. Buckeye fans are in disarray as they prepare to watch the Wolverines play for a conference championship in Indianapolis for the third year in a row, while the Maize and Blue faithful cheer them on.
Following last Saturday’s 30-24 loss in Ann Arbor, Buckeye supporters have turned their attention to topics such as
Connor Stalions’ ticket purchases, the dismissal of head coach Ryan Day, Ohio State’s potential attempt to recruit
Michigan players, and, most recently, the accusation that recruits are
impoverished if they decide to play elsewhere. Jeremiah Smith, who is
committed to Ohio State, is presently ranked as the top prospect in the nation
for the 2024 class by 247Sports. The 6-3, 198-pound Florida wide receiver would
undoubtedly be a huge addition to the Buckeyes, but as of right now, the top
prospect doesn’t seem to be getting the Columbus vibe.
The Buckeyes not only dropped their most important commitment to Miami this week, but they also dropped their third straight game against Michigan. Chicago-born Justin Scott, a 6-4, 310-pound defensive lineman, declared his summertime commitment to Ohio State. Prior to announcing this week that he had switched his commitment to Miami, Scott was a key member of Ohio State’s recruiting class. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 7 overall prospect in the 2024 class. As is frequently the case, many Buckeye supporters expressed their disappointment on message boards after it was announced that Scott would be leaving the team. While some criticized Scott for being a money-and woman-seller, others pointed fingers at the Chicago school system.
Given that Smith is from Florida, Buckeye supporters are now frantic
because they think the highly sought-after wide receiver might join Scott in
Miami. This has led to remarks and accusations that are obviously off-
putting to the top prospect. Regardless of how you slice it, it’s amazing to watch from Ann Arbor as the Ohio State fan
base completely collapses. For Michigan Football fans, it has swiftly grown to be
one of their favorite yearly rituals, and it doesn’t seem like it will end anytime soon.
