Manchester City will be without two key players through suspension for the midweek fixture against Aston Villa.

The two midfield players will not travel to Villa Park after receiving their fifth booking of the year against Tottenham.

Given Villa’s home performance this season and their three-point deficit to Arsenal at the top of the table, it will be devastating to Pep Guardiola‘s team.

Rodri, who was booked for a callous foul on Tottenham defender Pedro Porro, has

already served a three-match suspension this season.

Jack Grealish, meanwhile, received a yellow card for kicking the ball away

during a play break, so he won’t be seeing his old team again.

When Rodri was sent off against Nottingham Forest in September, City suffered greatly without him.

The three games that Guardiola‘s team played against Wolves, title rivals Arsenal, and Newcastle in the Carabao Cup were all losses.

Since joining City in 2019, Rodri has made 150 Premier League appearances, missing only 16. City has lost six of those sixteen without him.

Jeremy Doku, the current champions’ like-for-like replacement for Grealish, did

make an impact against Tottenham by scoring a goal off the bench.

Due to the 3-3 draw with Ange Postecoglou’s team, City is now  four

points behind Arsenal in third place in the standings.
