Breaking news:Referees are accused of “changing rules” after Brighton “robbed in broad daylight” against Chelsea.

Brighton ‘robbed in broad daylight’ against Chelsea as refs accused of ‘changing rules’

Brighton and Hove Albion fans were left fuming on Sunday afternoon as they saw

a late penalty overturned by VAR – with accusing the Premier League of changing the rules

Football supporters believe Brighton’s Sunday afternoon trip to Chelsea was a “robbery in broad daylight.”

When Levi Colwill was judged to have handled the ball, Brighton believed they

had been awarded a late penalty at Stamford Bridge, giving them the

opportunity to tie the score. Referee Craig Pawson reversed his ruling and

gave Chelsea a drop ball after turning to look at the VAR monitor.

However, fans were baffled as to why Brighton weren’t then awarded a corner. It was the another decision that left

Brighton fans furious, with some claiming Chelsea star Moises Caicedo

should have walked and the Blues’ earlier penalty was never a foul.

“Brighton committed robbery during the day. Caicedo ought to have been away. Chelsea never had a pen; they were

shoulder to shoulder. Brighton didn’t even get a corner and had one of their

pens overturned. Rules are changing now,” an irate fan exclaimed.

“Brighton have been absolutely robbed by the officiating in this game,

@premierleague officials are a joke which is nothing new,” a second later.

“Something has to be done, man. These referees are f***ing horrible,” said

another. Can’t even manage a basic corner correctly.”

The first forty-five minutes of the match saw Chelsea dominate, but Brighton took

control of the match after Conor Gallagher was sent off, just after Facundo Buonanotte gave the Seagulls a response.

But any momentum Roberto De Zerbi’s team may have gained was quickly dashed when Chelsea was awarded a

penalty following a protracted VAR check. The shoulder-to-shoulder

challenge was given credit as a spot-kick, which infuriated Brighton supporters.

And when Caicedo continued to play after committing a second offense that

could have resulted in a booking, their rage only heated up.

For the Seagulls, Joao Pedro made a comeback, but it was too little, too late.

Deep into added time, Pawson reversed their penalty call after it was shown on

replay that the ball had struck the Chelsea defender’s face, giving the Blues all three points.
