Pascal Gross puts the exodus from Brighton to Chelsea down to cash but says money cannot buy happiness.

“They have removed numerous players from our team,” Gross remarks prior to Sunday’s bitter match at Stamford Bridge. “They can do that because they have more money than us, but on the field, it doesn’t matter.”

Chelsea acquired Moises Caicedo for £115 million in August after paying £62 million for Marc Cucerella the previous year.

They lured Paul Winstanley, the sporting director, and took manager Graham Potter and his staff for £21.5 million.

However, Chelsea trails the visitors by six points going into Sunday’s match.

Brighton is a joyful place, the Seagulls star declared. “I focus on my club; I don’t know about Chelsea.” Brighton is a pleasant location. We are expanding. We defend one another in battle. There are many wonderful people and wonderful times ahead of us.
