After Arsenal’s loss, an ex-Premier League goalkeeper gives an open assessment of Wolves.

Despite Wolves’ easy defeat at the hands of Arsenal on Saturday, former Premier League goalkeeper Tim Howard thinks the team has “quality.”

At the Emirates Stadium, Wanderers lost 2-1, a result that most people probably anticipated.

This was due to two factors: Wolves’ poor away record and Gary O’Neil’s absence of two important players—Joao Gomes and Mario Lemina—due to suspension.

In addition to occasionally playing some really excellent football, Arsenal’s pressing simply made life very difficult for Wolves. Commentator Craig Burley observed that the Gunners “smothered” Wolves in the first half because they were unable to break through.

Wolves scored a late goal through Matheus Cunha, but they were unable to penetrate the Arsenal defense to equalize.

O’Neill called Dan Bentley, who had come in for the injured Jose Sa, “excellent” after he made a few clutch saves to keep Wolves in the game.

Howard praised Wolves on NBC Sports, even though Arsenal won quite easily: “They just got a little bit comfortable.” Given how amazing their football was, we assumed that Arteta would simply say, “Hey, let’s get back on the boil,” at halftime.

But give Wolves credit—in the end, it’s the Premier League. Ultimately, they are good in some aspects. especially straight forward. They adopted a more direct approach. With a two-goal advantage, Arsenal will obviously not take as many chances.

It’s encouraging to hear Howard give Wolves some credit for their perseverance in staying in the match even though Arsenal was clearly winning.
