Breaking news:Crooks refers to him as “sensational,” so Aston Villa will have to hang onto their 100% star for a while.

Aston Villa must cling onto 100% Ollie Watkins for long time after draw v Bournemouth

Ollie Watkins gave a 100% performance against Bournemouth, so Aston Villa needs to hang on to him in January. Arsenal is rumored to be interested in signing him to The Emirates.

Watkins, who has eight goals and six assists in 14 games this season, is one of three strikers on Arsenal’s list to add more firepower to their attack, according to The Daily Mail [30 November].

Watkins, who is also an open admirer of Arsenal, stated in 2020 that he hopes to

play for the North London team someday while playing for Brentford. This

revelation may cause Villa to worry about Watkins’ future.

On December 3, he played against Bournemouth and demonstrated his influence on Unai Emery’s team once more by scoring a late equalizer to salvage a point in what turned out to be a challenging trip to the South Coast. However, his performance would have done little to allay those fears.

In his team of the week piece [BBC Sport, 4 December], BBC pundit Garth Crooks called Watkins “sensational,” noting that “his goal against Bournemouth was a sensational header.”

“The England international worked extremely hard to position his body to

direct the ball goalward even though it was behind him. With minutes

remaining in the game, he was rewarded with a fantastic equalizer.”

The striker attempted three dribbles, completed 100% of his attempted crosses, and won six out of 14 duels to demonstrate his effort to make life difficult for the defenders while picking up one foul to ease the pressure on them. Watkins picked up a goal and an assist in the 2-2 draw, demonstrating once again how important he is for Villa.

In total, Watkins has taken 2.9 shots per game this season, 1.3 of which have found the back of the net. His remarkable shot conversion rate of 20% has allowed him to score eight goals in fourteen games.

With one headed goal, three from his left foot, and four from his right, he demonstrates his versatility, which can

be devastating for opponents. He also averages 1.6 crucial passes per game,

demonstrating that his impact extends beyond just scoring goals. [Mean Score]

It makes sense that Arsenal would want to add him to strengthen their title

defense, but Aston Villa needs to make every

effort to retain him if they want to

have a chance at a strong league finish and play in Europe.
