Brighton predicted line-up vs Brentford: two key changes made including £2.5m star as injury crisis deepens

The latest Brighton team news, injury updates and predicted XI, as the Seagulls prepare to face Brentford.

In a thrilling match against Chelsea last weekend, Brighton & Hove Albion narrowly lost 3-2 and left Stamford Bridge without any points. After just 20 minutes, the hosts were up two goals, but the Seagulls responded with a strong goal from Facundo Buonanotte. Before the half, stand-in captain Conor Gallagher picked up two bookings, reducing the Blues to ten men. However, an hour later, Enzo Fernandes made it 3-1 with a well-placed penalty.

Although Joao Pedro’s goal in stoppage time created an exciting finale, Mauricio Pochettino’s team was able to hold on and secure all three points. Roberto De Zerbi’s team will be eager to move on from their setback and will have a home game against Brentford as the perfect chance to do just that. When the teams last faced each other at the end of the previous campaign, they engaged in a thrilling six-goal match that ended in a 3-3 draw for the points. Here is the most recent Brighton team news, injury report, and our predicted starting lineup for the match against the Bees ahead of Wednesday night:

When Brighton plays Brentford, a number of important players won’t be available. Star player Pervis Estupiñán,

who suffered an early injury relapse during the team’s 2-0 away win against

Ajax last month, still has no return date set. Adam Webster’s recovery from a

knock isn’t expected to happen until at least this weekend, and Tariq Lamptey’s

injury is still a long-term concern. Lewis Dunk, the team captain who is playing in

his final game of suspension, completes the hosts’ woes on defense. Similar

challenges exist in midfield as De Zerbi tries to balance the team’s appearances

in Europe and at home while dealing with a growing injury list.

Due to a knee injury, Solly March is still not expected to return, and Ansu Fati, a

star loanee, is experiencing the same situation. Another Seagulls star who is

anticipated to miss a significant amount of time is Julio Encisco, who is still

recovering from a knee injury he sustained early in the season. Similar to

Dunk, Mahmoud Dahoud, a cheap summer addition, is out due to

suspension but will be available for selection when Burnley plays at the

Amex on Saturday. Injury worries don’t really affect De Zerbi’s front line, but he

is still without Danny Welbeck, whose return is currently not anticipated.

Goalkeeper and defence

It’s getting harder and harder to predict Brighton’s starting lineup; ask any Fantasy Premier League player. It’s becoming more common in England’s top division to switch goalkeepers, so it’s difficult to predict if De Zerbi will start alongside Jason Steele against Brentford. When we flipped a coin, Bart Verbruggen came up (full disclosure: it was actually a wooden coaster with one distinctly grubbier side). Hopefully Brighton’s boss makes more significant decisions using more rigorous scientific processes. In place of Dunk, the Seagulls may start with an identical back four against the Bees, with Joel Veltman and Jack Hinshelwood playing full back and flanking Igor and Jan Paul van Hecke.

Pascal Groß and Carlos Baleba might start together in midfield after Billy Gilmour played the entire ninety minutes, plus a significant amount of stoppage time, against his old team the last time out. One could argue that Buonanotte should continue to start when Brentford visits, and he could start alongside Adam Lallana and Kaoru

Mitoma in a potent attacking midfield trio. Pedro might start at forward instead

of Evan Ferguson given his previous goal against Chelsea. Nevertheless, given the

busy schedule and dearth of viable options, De Zerbi might decide to start

both Pedro and Ferguson, as he did in their most recent Europa League victory

over AEK Athens. However, this seems unlikely. choices he currently has available to him outside of the two. Verbruggen; Hinshelwood, van Hecke, Igor, Veltman; Groß, Baleba; Buonanotte, Lallana, Mitoma; Pedro was Brighton’s predicted starting lineup.
