Roberto De Zerbi makes major Brighton claim after Chelsea defeat and delivers VAR admission

The Brighton boss was not happy to have left Stamford Bridge was nothing to show

for his troubles following Chelsea’s 3-2 win

Roberto De Zerbi, the manager of Brighton, asserted that Brighton ought to

have defeated Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

In order to defeat the Seagulls and reclaim their place in the top half of the

Premier League, a heroic 10-man Blues team had to dig deep. Conor Gallagher

was sent off for a second yellow card just before halftime, putting Chelsea ahead,

and his teammates had an uphill battle ahead of them.

In the second half, Brighton had the majority of the possession and

opportunities, but they were unable to penetrate Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

Anxiety in West London increased after Joao Pedro’s goal in the 92nd minute to

tie the score, but Chelsea held strong to win all three points.

After the game, Seagulls manager De Zerbi stated that his team “deserved” to return to the south coast victorious. “I

think we played better than Chelsea, better than our performance in the

Europa League, and better than our performance against Nottingham Forest,”

he declared. However, we lost the game as a result of three major errors.

In such cases, we [need] to defend more effectively. We deserved to make (earn)

points, so I apologize. We could have imagined ourselves to be defeated, so a

draw of one point was not a great outcome.

Regarding the two penalty decisions that went in Chelsea’s favor, De Zerbi also

maintained his silence. Mykhailo Mudryk was fouled by James Milner,

which resulted in the third goal for the Blues. Late in the game, referee Craig

Pawson awarded a spot kick for a handball against Levi Colwill.

The Brighton manager declined to get involved in the dispute even though VAR

stepped in twice to overturn the rulings. “We played very well before the penalty,”

he continued. with ideas and fervor. I’d prefer not to talk about referees.

Although they are decent individuals, the referees

are not perfect. The referees’

supervisor will be aware of their plans. That is not my concern.
