Aston Villa v Man City team news – as seven players out and one doubt

Team news and injury updates ahead of Aston Villa v Man City in the Premier League.

Aston Villa could benefit from the absence of two Man City players for their Premier League match, as they have no new injury concerns.

On Sunday, both teams played and ended up drawing with Spurs and AFC Bournemouth, respectively. Due to their participation in the UEFA Europa Conference League, Villa played on Sunday and defeated the Cherries to earn a point in stoppage time. Bournemouth twice took the lead thanks to goals from Dominic Solanke and Antoine Semenyo, but Unai Emery’s team responded with goals from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins.

Watkins started and was well received despite being a doubt for the Villains and rated as 50/50 after missing the victory over Legia Warsaw on Thursday. It’s unclear if Youri Tielemans, who took over for the suspended Boubacar Kamara, will stay in that role or if the team will shift.

Man City, on the other hand, played to a six-goal thriller at the Etihad, coming

from behind twice before giving up the lead. Giovani Lo Celso cancelled out Son

Heung-min’s own goal to give Spurs the lead, and Phil Foden’s header gave the

home team the lead. Ten minutes after what appeared to be the winner, Jack

Grealish scored, but Dejan Kulusevski scored in Pep Guardiola’s team was

forced to settle for a point in the ninetieth minute.

Just one spot and one point separates the two teams prior to kickoff. Villa is in fourth place with 29 points, behind Man City in third place with 30 points. The last time Villa and Manchester City met was in February, when Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan, and Riyad Mahrez blasted City into a three-goal lead before Ollie Watkins netted a consolation goal. Villa hasn’t defeated City since September 28, 2013.

Below is the most recent information about Villa and the Citizens’ teams, including two recent suspensions.

1. Boubar Kamara – fit

Available for selection once again after serving a one-game suspension because he accumulated five yellow cards before the 19th game of the season.

2. Ollie Watkins – fit

Against AFC Bournemouth, he was 50/50 to play, but happily he did, as he equalized in the ninetieth minute. But even though Unai Emery might want to manage him carefully, you need to use your best players when you’re playing Manchester City.

3. Bertrand Traore – out

returned wounded from a mission abroad in Burkina Faso. Having only played 10 minutes in the league so far, he is expected to spend some time on the sidelines.

4. Tyrone Mings – out

sustained a knee injury in Villa’s league debut match against Newcastle United. Although he is unfortunate not to be able to play again this campaign, he has kept fans informed by sharing videos on his social media accounts that show off the efforts he is making to get fit again.

5. Emi Buendia – out

Emi Buendia needed medical attention after suffering a knee injury in August. It is anticipated that he will miss most, if not all, of the 2023–2024 season.

6. Jack Grealish – out

Jack Grealish will not play at Villa Park against his old team. He was given his fifth yellow card of the season and will miss one game as a result.

7. Rodri – out

As a result of receiving his fifth yellow card of the year, Rodri will miss one game. Due to an act against Nottingham Forest, he has already completed his ban.

8. Kevin De Bruyne – out

Kevin De Bruyne sustained a hamstring injury against Burnley and hasn’t played since the first day of the season. He had surgery to treat the injury, and it is anticipated that he will miss the Club World Cup.

9. Kevin De Bruyne – out (continued)

Kevin De Bruyne said on: November 26: ‘It’s going well, it’s getting along. I’ve still got a little bit to go, but we’re getting there. “I hope for something close after New Year if everything goes well.’

10. Matheus Nunes – out

Matheus Nunes withdrew from international duty in mid-November after he was declared unfit by Portugal after undergoing some tests. He has not featured in the last three matches. Pep Guardiola said on Dec 01: ‘Matheus is still maybe days or weeks away.

12. Jeremy Doku – doubt

Doku appeared to have injured himself during Sunday’s game against the Spurs.
