In a fresh injury setback, a Leeds player is now out until Christmas.

Junior Firpo, the star player for Leeds United, sustained yet another injury

during the 3-1 victory over Swansea, and the Yorkshire Post reports that he will likely be sidelined until Christmas.

The left-back sustained a hamstring injury not long after returning to the side following a lengthy injury, the newspaper revealed on their website [December 5].

Due to his ongoing injury struggles, Firpo has only made three appearances for Daniel Farke’s team so far this season. Given his current injury status, a Christmas timeline now seems unlikely

Fortunately, Sam Byram’s rise to prominence in Farke’s team has limited the impact of the defender’s absence for

both Firpo and Leeds. Firpo hasn’t been missed because Pascal Struijk, Dejd Spence, and Jamie Shackleton can all step in when necessary.

According to reports, he may be looking to leave Elland Road in January. Considering his lack of availability this

season, it’s unlikely that many at Leeds would be upset to see him go and relieve himself of his salary obligations..

This season, Byram has filled in for Farke, and despite having a different style than Firpo, he has solidified his status as the number one option in his position. His natural right footedness and more defensive mindset give the boss a fresh perspective when building out of defense.

Firpo’s lack of playing time in the Championship will have disappointed everyone, but with this latest setback, it might be time to move on. Firpo has never really made an impact at Elland Road, even in the Premier League.
