When Aston Villa hosts Liverpool and Newcastle United later this season, manager Unai Emery has acknowledged that he is already planning how his team will defeat them.

Aston Villa, led by Emery, is currently on a roll. On Saturday night, they defeated Arsenal at Villa Park after defeating Manchester City at home.

Now sitting just two points behind league leaders Liverpool in the Premier League

standings, Aston Villa is widely regarded as an outsider to win the championship.

However, they have suffered three losses—to Newcastle, Nottingham Forest, and Liverpool.

Newcastle and Liverpool are both expected to finish in the top half of the Premier League, and Emery acknowledges that he is considering strategies to defeat them when they visit Villa Park.

“We lost to Newcastle and Liverpool because they were superior to us,”

Emery stated at the press conference following the Arsenal game.

“However, I’m considering my options on how to defeat them here.”

Aston Villa are due to welcome Eddie Howe’s Newcastle side to Villa Park at the end of January, while Liverpool are set to visit in May.

Emery turned down the Newcastle job while he was boss at Villarreal, with the Magpies then turning to Howe.
