“Put me in difficultly” – Brighton manager De Zerbi explains how Klopp & Guardiola ruined his tactical plan

Manager Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton & Hove Albion has praised Pep Guardiola of Manchester City and manager Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool for making insignificant tactical adjustments that derailed his own plans.

According to Sport Italia, the Brighton manager has been in conversation with

Brescia Oggi about tactics and the distinctions between living in Italy and England.

After managing Sassuolo in Serie A and Brighton in the Premier League, he can speak with some authority on both.

The Premier League is widely considered as the best in the world for its high-energy, endurance football, while Italy is

known to be more tactical and slower than some other leagues in Europe.

These two leagues are thought to be very different from one another.

Since coming to England, the Brighton manager has worked hard to dispel the misconception that Italian coaches are more defensive than their peers; as a result, the Seagulls are currently among the division’s most potent and open teams.

This is because De Zerbi constantly modifies his style during games, something he acknowledges isn’t always effective—as was the case against Manchester City and Liverpool.

De Zerbi acknowledges that his rival managers may have overcome him when

Brighton drew 2-2 with Liverpool at the start of October and lost 2-1 to Manchester City later in the month.

“It is fundamental and essential to take care of your physical condition,” he stated.

Together with the goalie’s changing role, he now plays as an extra player during the building phase of the field.

“I’ll use two games my Brighton played this year against Manchester City and Liverpool as an example. In both games, I had planned the man-for-man defensive phase.

But Klopp and Guardiola elevated the keeper high above the penalty area, making him an outfield player and causing me a great deal of trouble.
