Sunderland star hailed as ‘wicked’ after what he did during Leeds United win

Many people have praised Alex Pritchard for his contribution to Sunderland’s thrilling victory over Leeds United yesterday.

The midfielder, who continued to show why he ought to be a regular for the

Black Cats, was brought back into the starting lineup following his two assists

in the team’s victory over West Brom over the weekend.

Fans were furious as Alex Pritchard appeared to be leaving Sunderland in the summer. Despite staying past the deadline, the 30-year-old has only managed five starts since then.

Pritchard put on another incredible performance last night, helping the team secure all three points and maintain their place in the Championship play-off positions despite being pushed further forward than his natural position.

Pritchard finished with eighty-six percent pass accuracy, four crucial passes, and a very ingenious assist for Jobe Bellingham’s winning goal.

When Bradley Dack came on in extra time to replace the midfield player, the crowd gave him a standing ovation, which reporter Phil Smith said was “thoroughly deserved.”

When Pritchard was replaced, the Sunderland Echo journalist was among many who cheered him on, writing on X, “what a footballer.”

Giving the former Huddersfield Town player a nine in his player ratings, he continued to commend him further,

writing, “Pressed from the front, knew when to drop in, and delivered a

sequence of wicked set pieces that should have been converted.”

“Landed his assist eventually with a deft header. His standing ovation was thoroughly deserved.”

How good is Alex Pritchard?!

As of right now, Alex Pritchard leads the Sunderland team in assists (5) and big-possession creation (6). In addition, he makes 1.6 crucial passes per game, which is third only to Jack Clarke and Patrick Roberts.

Pritchard was not even used at all in the matches against Plymouth Argyle and Birmingham City last month, and he has only started five games in the Championship.

The 30-year-old is incredibly talented, and if we don’t extend his contract, the fans will undoubtedly be furious. He’s a very valuable asset to have at our disposal, even though there’s no guarantee the next manager will approve of him.

Since joining in the summer, Adil Aouchiche has shown himself to be a very exciting player, but he will now

need to do a lot to unseat Pritchard. The veteran teammate will now exert every

effort to maintain his position in the starting lineup since the Frenchman

missed his opportunity to play in the first team.
