Mahomes extends his apology to Allen and Bills at Arrowhead

Arrowhead Apology: Mahomes Sorry to Allen, Bills

It’s atone for Patrick Mahomes. During an appearance on KCSP, the star quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs expressed regret for his actions following Sunday’s highly-discussed thriller against the Buffalo Bills. This week, on the weekday afternoon show “The Drive,” Mahomes stated, “Obviously, you don’t ever want to react that way.” “Man, I give a damn. I adore both my teammates and this game. In order to succeed, I want to go out there and risk everything.”

“But obviously, can’t do that, can’t be that way toward officials or really anybody in life, so I probably regret acting like that.”

Mahomes has become the unflattering face of Kansas City’s 20-17 defeat after tearing into officials for a costly penalty call against receiver Kadarius Toney (offsides) that negated a would-be go-ahead touchdown in the final stages. The two-time Super Bowl champion further expressed his grievances to Western New York counterpart Josh Allen during their postgame handshake, claiming the charge against Toney was “(bleeping) terrible” and the “wildest call (he’d) ever seen.” In his radio appearance, Mahomes was particularly apologetic about the way he behaved in that meeting with Allen. He also admitted that the call against Toney, which wiped out a highlight-reel play that saw Travis Kelce lateral the ball to a streaking Toney for a score after the catch, was correct. “More than anything I regretted how I acted toward Josh after the game,” Mahomes said. “He had nothing to do with it.”

The most recent exciting exchange in the developing passing competition between

Allen and Mahomes was on Sunday. The two quarterbacks have split their six

meetings in the 2020s, including the postseason, with the latter winning two

of those games. The surprising win on Sunday extended Buffalo’s chances of

making the playoffs and reduced Kansas City’s lead over Denver in the AFC West

race to one game. When Buffalo plays the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday in the late

afternoon (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox), it will try to continue to build on its momentum.
