Falcons injury report: Five players held out of practice as Carolina prep week begins

Flory Branch, Georgia: The Falcons had a lot of injuries last week, and this pattern is carried over into practice in advance of Sunday’s trip to Carolina. The team reported that three players were limited and five players missed practice on Wednesday.

Chris Lindstrom, Jake Matthews, and Kaleb McGary, the offensive linemen,

and Kentavius Street and Calais Campbell, the defensive linemen, were not allowed to practice on Wednesday.

The Falcons’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers resulted in injuries to Lindstrom (ankle) and Matthews (knee).

Lindstrom ended the game, but Matthews left and never came back.

Prior to the game, McGary’s knee was declared out of commission.

During the Atlanta’s most recent game, Street (pectoral) also sustained the injury. Arthur Smith, the head coach, declared on Wednesday that Street would miss this game against Carolina. Normally granted a rest day on Wednesdays, Campbell, a 16-year veteran, did not take part in practice.

Linebacker Nate Landman (knee), offensive lineman Drew Dalman (ankle), and defensive lineman David Onyemata (ankle) were the three players that were limited. In the Falcons’ game against the Bucs, none of the three players made an appearance.

The Falcons status report showed defensive tackle LaCale London (knee) and cornerback Jeff Okudah (ankle) as full participants. After receiving a questionable rating on the game designation report, Okudah was unable to play in the Falcons’ most recent game. In that same report, London was marked as out following his designation to return from injured reserve.

Smith expressed optimism that several of the injured players would have a realistic shot to participate on Sunday despite the lengthy list of ailments.
