Breaking news:head coach wishes he could offer a five-year deal to the Brighton & Hove Albion midfield player who is on loan

CARL HOEFKENS WISHES HE COULD GIVE ON LOAN BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION MIDFIELDER A FIVE-YEAR CONTRACT

The head coach of Standard Liege was quoted by LDH as praising the value of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Steven Alzate, who is now on loan, to the team. This followed the news that the midfield player’s loan agreement included a recall clause that would allow

the Premier League team to bring up the player the following month. However,

Standard and Alzate hope it doesn’t happen. Hoefkens stated at the news

conference that he would offer Alzate a five-year contract if it were up to him.

The 25-year-old Colombian midfielder was one of Standard’s main summer targets after spending the previous season on loan with the team. He went back for a second loan stint and has since participated in ten Pro League games, recording one goal and two assists. Alzate participated in 29 games in the 2022–2023 season, tallying three goals and dishing out five assists. Alzate started his professional career at Leyton Orient and joined Brighton in 2017. In his 51 games for the team, he has three goals. He played half of the 2018–19 season on loan at Swindon, where he once more scored three goals.
