Michael Beale close to being named as new Sunderland manager following Will Still links

According to talkSPORT, Michael Beale is almost certain to take over as Sunderland manager.

Beale was fired as Rangers manager in October, and he is not currently employed.

After taking over in November 2022, the 43-year-old managed at Ibrox for just under a year, but during the dominance of Celtic and Ange Postecoglou in Scottish football, he was unable to bring home any hardware.

He controversially left Queens Park Rangers after just five months in charge, capping his brief tenure there.

The decision to fire Tony Mowbray last week prompted Sunderland to begin looking for a new manager.

Although reputable coaches Will Still and Nice assistant manager Julian Sable were also mentioned in connection with the

position, Beale appears to be returning to English football.

In the upcoming months, the Black Cats intend to intensify their efforts in order to secure a spot in the Championship play-offs for a consecutive year.

Last year, Luton Town defeated Sunderland in the play-off semifinals,

and the Hatters went on to win promotion to the Premier League.

The Wearsiders are now sixth in the Championship standings, and they will

be visiting Bristol City this coming weekend.
