Graeme Souness delivers the last Rangers jab at Michael Beale before Sunderland’s “gamble,” as a heavy reality check arrives.

Graeme Souness takes final Rangers jab at Michael Beale as loaded reality check arrives before Sunderland ‘gamble’

Beale looks set for a quickfire return to the dugout with The Black Cats as they chase promotion.

As he approaches a comeback to football management with Sunderland, former Ibrox manager Michael Beale has received a strong warning from Rangers legend Graeme Souness.

Given that the English Championship team did not secure first choice, the Londoner appears destined to succeed Tony Mowbray at the Stadium of Light. Just over two months after being fired by the Scottish Premiership’s biggest clubs,

Beale will now be the focus of Reims manager Will Still and the promotion-

chasing Black Cats. According to reports, Beale will watch Sunderland vs. Bristol

City on Saturday from the stands at the Stadium of Light.

And Souness hasn’t forgotten his disastrous experience at the Light Blues, even as Beale approaches a contract. Less than a year after Beale resigned from his position as Steven Gerrard’s dependable lieutenant, he was shown the door. After Giovanni van Bronckhorst was fired from Queens Park Rangers in November, he became a manager in his own right and led the team to a promotion push. However, he would later quit the London club when Rangers called.

Souness wrote the following in his Daily Mail column: “I suspect that Michael Beale’s job at Sunderland will be equally

as challenging as it was at Rangers now that he is the new head coach.” Going to

Scotland was a risk, and it did not turn out well for him.

“Sunderland is going to be comparable in that it’s a large club with high standards. In actuality, they are a Premier League-caliber team. And he’ll play in the FA Cup versus Newcastle in one of his opening matches? I hope the best for him!”
