Manchester United winger must snub Leicester City interest for Sunderland if January move occurs.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Amad Diallo is a highly sought-after player ahead of the January transfer window, with interest from Leicester City and Sunderland.
- Diallo’s loan spell at Sunderland last season was a success, and they are keen to bring him back.
- If Diallo is allowed to leave Man United on loan, he should prioritize a move back to Sunderland over joining Leicester, as he had an excellent campaign with them last season.
Amad Diallo, a former Sunderland loanee, appears to be in high demand coming into the January transfer season.
The previous season, Diallo was on loan at the Stadium of Light; the club, the player, and Manchester United all considered the loan period to be a complete success.
With speculation that he would get an opportunity with the first team and his
reputation developing, he returned to Old Trafford in the summer.
The winger participated in the first few preseason
matches for Man United, but
he tragically sustained an injury against Arsenal in the USA that has prevented him from playing this season.
Now that Diallo is back at Manchester United training, Football Insider reports
that Erik ten Hag is eager to give Diallo an opportunity to shine as he works to
hone his sharpness prior to the transfer window in January.
But that hasn’t stopped Championship sides from showing interest in the player, with Sunderland and Leicester City particularly keen.
Leicester City and Sunderland eye Amad Diallo deal in January
As previously said, injuries sustained during the preseason halted any attempts by any team to sign the attacker during the summer transfer window.
Both Leicester and Sunderland are now prepared and willing to sign Diallo on loan in January and keep him until the end of the season, sources tell Football Insider.
In an effort to replace Jadon Sancho, Ten Hag is eager to give the Ivory Coast international a chance in the starting
lineup. However, this rumor claims that the Premier League’s biggest clubs will
let Diallo to leave on loan once more if he is unwilling to accept a chance.

Thus, the 21-year-old is available for loan signings to Sunderland and Leicester City, two teams fighting for promotion in different ways.
Both clubs might encounter some challenges because, according to this report, European and Premier League teams are considering Diallo’s circumstances.
Amad Diallo must snub Leicester City and join Sunderland if Man United departure happens
Diallo is still recovering from his injury, so it’s unclear what Man United would like to do with him at this point. It’s also
uncertain when he might be available for matchday teams.
Additionally, the Red Devils would prefer for Diallo to succeed when given the
opportunity, which is why they keep him close to Old Trafford.
But if, for whatever reason, it doesn’t work out and Diallo is permitted to leave the team in January on loan, the 21-year-
old will have to give returning to
Sunderland more importance than playing for the Foxes.
The player was their last season and had a fantastic campaign, which is one of the apparent reasons for this.
Diallo made 37 appearances for Sunderland in the Championship last season, tallying 13 goals and dishing out
three assists. In other words, his projected goal ratio overall was 8.1,
while his predicted assist rate was 4.3 according to Fbref.com.
In every ninety minutes, Diallo was averaging a goal and an assist every 0.45 times. Going forward, the winger was a
terrifying sight, with 64 shots on goal for the season, 25 of which were on target
and, naturally, 13 of which ended in goals. According to Fbref.com, he made a
shot 2.23 times on average for every 90 minutes of play.
The Man United player had a tremendous season last year, and although Sunderland supporters would
be skeptical of their prospects of re-signing him because of his superiority
over the Championship or the departure of Tony Mowbray, the Stadium of Light
would be a better fit for Diallo than Leicester would be.
The Black Cats need more offensive alternatives, and the 21-year-old would fit right back into their starting lineup if
he returned to the team in January. His performances for the team were also too
strong to see him return and not start every game.
Although there is no reason why Diallo would not play for Leicester given that
Enzo Maresca has many of alternatives in the attacking third and there are now
players on the team who are not playing much, it could be argued that if Diallo
were to sign with the team, his guarantee of playing time would not be as good.
Man United would want to move him to a place where he can play every week, and as things stand, they most likely
envision him playing more at Sunderland than at Leicester.
