|Southampton Could Lose £12 Million Star To Premier League Side
According to speculations, star forward Che Adams of promotion-hopeful
Southampton could leave for a struggling Premier League team when the January transfer window opens in two weeks.
The Saints suffered a great deal in the fight for automatic promotion due to a dismal four-game losing streak near the
beginning of the season, but Russell Martin’s club is the best in the
Championship, having not dropped a game since September 23.
Although having a worse goal differential than Leeds United,
Southampton has now gone 14 games without a loss in the league and is tied
for third position with Leeds United. In addition, the South Coast team is 10
points behind Ipswich Town in second place, occupying the fourth spot.
Furthermore, this season, only Norwich City, Leicester City, and Ipswich have
scored more goals than the Saints. With 12 goals and six assists in 22 games this
season, Southampton’s outstanding forward Adam Armstrong is tied for
second place in the Championship goalscoring standings. However, no
player has contributed more goals than Armstrong.
In the forward line, the former Blackburn Rovers striker and Che Adams have formed a strong relationship.
Having combined for 65% of Southampton’s goals this season, The
Real EFL reported that the pair were among the most productive in the EFL.
But this fruitful collaboration might end this winter. Burnley, a Premier League
struggling team, is eager to bring Adams to Turf Moor in an effort to prevent
being demoted at the first opportunity, according to TeamTalk.
For the Clarets throughout all competitions, no player has scored more
than three goals; Adams has scored four goals overall.
At season’s end, the Scotland international’s contract expires, and
Southampton might be obliged to must agree to a reduced fee for his services or
risk losing him for nothing come summertime.

During the recent transfer window, Everton submitted a £12 million offer for the forward but no deal ever came to
fruition. Nevertheless, Southampton may be inclined to accept a bid over the
coming weeks to avoid losing him for nothing at the end of his contract.
Adams has contributed to Southampton’s success thus far, even though Armstrong
has been the team’s main player under Martin. Allowing him to go to Burnley
might make it more difficult for the team to get promoted back to the top division.
