Club president ‘fears’ Brighton will sign two of his players in January – Claim double swoop being considered

Brighton & Hove Albion are today mentioned by the Argentine media in a bit of a strange rumour.

The Seagulls have been strongly linked to Boca Juniors star Valentin Barco for the

past few months, but not much has come of this story. It turns out that Brighton is

interested in another player from the Buenos Aires club, goalkeeper Leandro

Brey, according to the website Boca Noticias.

According to the report, Juan Roman Riquelme, the president of Boca Juniors, “fears” that the Seagulls would sign both Barco and Brey in January.

The 21-year-old is viewed as the team’s “future goalkeeper,” but Brighton is now posing a threat to sign him because of how little he has played.

This story is a little strange because Brey is Boca Juniors’ third choice at the position, has only made one appearance for the first team, and hasn’t participated in any significant competitions with Argentina’s young divisions.

We should definitely wait and see if any significant Argentine publication has anything to say about this purported

chase in the coming days, given that’s only one website covering this for now.
