Football Insider has reported that West Ham will consider selling striker Ings in January if the appropriate offer comes in.

 

The 31-year-old is currently well down the hierarchy at the London club, where he has struggled during his tenure.

 

According to this rumor, elite Championship teams are keeping an eye

on Ings’ situation and are interested in him in addition to Premier League teams.

 

Although David Moyes, the manager of the Hammers, is reportedly a “big fan” of

the player, given that Ings has played relatively little this season, the team may

be willing to let him go during the winter transfer window.

Ings has played 16 times for the club in all competitions this season, but it yet to find the back of the net, with him so far having no goal involvement.

Though it says “top end Championship sides,” you would have to assume that teams like Southampton, Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Leeds United are interested in the player. Of course, no teams have expressed interest in Ings directly at this point.

You may argue that some of these teams don’t need to acquire players in that part of the pitch because they already have a variety of choices in their forward lines.

 

Southampton should be eager to reach an agreement to re-sign the 31-year-old, though, as they could have to if they lose a few players in January.

 

After initially acquiring Ings on a loan from Liverpool for the 2018–19 season, the Saints decided to make the move permanent at the conclusion of the season.

 

During his two seasons with the team, Ings played 100 games, contributing 10 assists and 46 goals to the score. His efforts for the team paid off, as Aston Villa signed him.However, much like West Ham, the move wasn’t very successful.

In actuality, Ings played some of his best games at St. Mary’s Stadium before joining Burnley. With 22 goals in the Premier League and a second-place finish in the Golden Boot competition, the 2019–20 season was his finest.

 

Ings had an xAG of 2.7 and an estimated xG of 16.2 for that campaign. Additionally, according to Fbref.com, the forward averaged a goal every 0.71 minutes and an assist every 0.06 minutes.

Throughout the course of the season, the 31-year-old took 91 shots at goal, of which 35 were on target, translating into an accuracy rate of 38.5%. These kinds of stats are really amazing. According to Fbref.com, he averaged 2.92 shots on goal for every 90 minutes of play, with a goals per shot ratio of 0.23.

It’s been stated that the forward enjoyed his time at Southampton, where he may be open to returning despite the fact that it was a few seasons ago that he played some of his greatest football.
