“I can learn a lot from Jack”: Graham relishing arrival of Wighton at Redfern

The Rabbitohs landed one of the biggest signings for 2024 in Jack Wighton.

Campbell Graham, a star for the South Sydney Rabbitohs and a borderline State

of Origin player, has acknowledged that he hopes to pick up a lot of knowledge from Jack Wighton in the preseason.

Wighton, who spent his tenure with the Canberra Raiders as one of the league’s

top five-eighths, will go into the centers against the Rabbitohs.

It follows his surprise signing of a long-term contract upon moving to Redfern,

where he will most likely play out the rest of his career with Jason Demetriou’s team.

Wighton’s primary duty will be at center for the next two years at least, with Cody

Walker under contract until the end of 2025, though he will be a useful backup in the halves.

To allay concerns among South Sydney supporters over Wighton’s ability to play

in the centers towards the conclusion of his career, Graham called Wighton “an

absolute freak” and stated that he is among the greatest in effort areas.

Graham told the media, “It’s awesome,” according to News Corp.

“I think Jack has a lot to teach me. His game is what I want to use as the model for my own. It requires a lot of labor.

He is most likely the competitor’s best at that position in terms of effort areas. He

truly is a freak. I adore the way he approaches practice and game day. I’m

going to set up a pen and notepad near him.

Graham was a likely selection in the 2023 NSW Blues State of Origin squad before

being cut. Graham most recently participated in an NRL promotional tour

to Las Vegas ahead of the Rabbitohs opening the 2024 season there against

the Manly Sea Eagles as part of a doubleheader that also features the

Brisbane Broncos against the Sydney Roosters hurt.

The standout center, who recently re-signed with South Sydney, has already

represented Australia and will add to his 131 NRL games played in 2024.
