İstanbulspor president halts Onuachu and Trabzonspor’s party amid controversy

After Paul Onuachu scored his eighth league goal against İstanbulspor, a heated altercation interrupted his celebration.

The match between İstanbulspor and Trabzonspor took an unexpected turn when the team’s management pulled them off the field, according to Soccernet.ng.

Istanbulspor President Ecmel Faik Sarıalioğlu intervened and gave his team the order to leave the field even though the VAR review confirmed a goal.

At times, players from İstanbulspor requested President Ecmel Faik Sarıalioğlu to allow them to play.

Additionally, reports proposed a meeting between Presidents Ertuğrul Doğan of Trabzonspor and Ecmel Faik Sarıalioğlu of İstanbulspor.

After some early talks, Mehmet Yeşil, the captain of İstanbulspor, went back to

inform Ali Şansalan that they had decided not to continue the play.

This decision was made even though Trabzonspor was ahead 2-1 thanks to a goal from Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu,

who gave his team the lead with his eighth Süper Lig goal.

However, the unexpected turn of events during the match may potentially lead to point deductions due to the halt in play.

Regulations about the consequences of leaving the field indicate that the team that leaves the game after it has begun will lose 3-0.

In addition, the team’s current score could be reduced by three points. They could also face a compensation penalty

that the TFF will decide upon in order to pay for additional charges, referee fees,

and to make up for any losses suffered by the rival team.
