2 more Auburn alumni put in position to play by NFL teams

Following transactions on Friday, two former Alabama high school standouts who attended Auburn for their college

football are qualified to play this weekend in the NFL.

In preparation for their game on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Steelers,

the Tennessee Titans signed defensive tackle Marlon Davidson from their

practice squad to their 53-man active roster. Meanwhile, the Cincinnati

Bengals elevated wide receiver Shedrick Jackson from their practice squad.

For every NFL game, two players on the practice squad can be called up to the

active roster. This season, Jackson and Davidson have already experienced this twice.

In two games, on November 12 against the Houston Texans and November 16

against the Baltimore Ravens, Jackson played five offensive snaps and 22

special teams plays. Due to a shoulder injury, wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is

ruled out of Saturday’s game; the rookie is available.

As an elevated practice squad member, Davidson made appearances in Tennessee’s last two games. He saw

action in 56 snaps over the course of the two games, recording a sack in the

Houston Texans’ 19-16 overtime defeat on Sunday.

When safety Amani Hooker was placed on injured reserve by the Titans,

Davidson took his position on the active roster on friday.

Davidson played at Greenville, while Jackson prepared at Hoover.

After beginning the week with the Atlanta Falcons, another former

Alabama high school great will be eligible to

play for the Bengals on Saturday.

Travis Bell, a defensive tackle, was granted to Cincinnati by waiver claim.

Bell attended Jeff Davis (now J.A.G.) in Montgomery for his preparatory work before being selected first overall by

Kennesaw State in the April 29 NFL Draft. Bell spent the first eight weeks of

the season on the Bears practice squad after being selected in the seventh round

by Chicago, and then he was signed by Atlanta.

Before being dismissed by Atlanta on Tuesday, Bell

participated in 30 defensive

snaps in the Falcons’ previous two games.

The Bengals and Steelers play on Saturday at Acrisure Stadium in

Pittsburgh at 3:30 p.m. CST. The game will be aired on NBC.

The Seattle Seahawks and Titans take on each other on Sunday at noon at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
