|Breaking:New injury setbacks for Leeds United as Daniel Farke promises to ..
On Boxing Day, Leeds United takes on Preston North End at Deepdale in the
. Daniel Farke must manage this team through four games in
nine days, with Luke Ayling, Jamie Shackleton, Sam Byram, and Jaidon Anthony being the main players.
Just as Daniel Farke is hoping to rotate his team, another injury was added to
Leeds United’s medical report prior to their match against Ipswich Town on
Saturday. His squad will be stretched thin over the holiday season with four games in nine days, and he
acknowledges that rotations in the starting lineup will be necessary to keep everyone fresh.
This season, Luke Ayling has been absent from a number of matchday squads
when the bulk of the team has been fit. Although it was assumed that his absence on Saturday was due to the
same issue, the manager has disclosed an injury ahead of Boxing Day’s trip to Preston North End
Farke stated, “Unfortunately, Luke’s knee issues prevented him from having a
chance. He wasn’t on the squad for that reason. I’m hoping he can get back to us soon.
Perhaps Sam Byram is in the same boat. His rehabilitation appears to be going
well, so maybe he can get back to work before the end of the year. We’ll see what the coming days have in store.
I hope the same for Jamie Shackleton—that he can be discussed in the upcoming games—and that Jaidon Anthony returns quickly.
Farke had originally designated the FA Cup trip to Peterborough United or the
New Year’s Day match against Birmingham City as possible return matches for Shackleton and Byram.
Regarding Anthony, he was declared ineligible for the victory over Ipswich after showing up sick for practice on Friday.
Illness usually takes two or three days, after which you can resume training fairly quickly.” Farke stated, “Right now, we need every player.
In the past five games, Farke has only altered his starting lineup once. As his
players go through the most demanding part of the campaign, that trend cannot continue.
With four games in nine days, we won’t start every game with the same lineup,”
he declared. “We need every player in the squad during this holiday season to do that.”
Leeds will travel to Preston on Christmas Day after reporting to Thorp Arch today. Those who played yesterday will have a
full session on the field, and those who did not feature will have a recovery session.
