In their primetime matchup, the Packers are the underdogs against the injured VikingsĀ

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin: The NFL decided not to move the Packers-Vikings game

from its Sunday night slot, despite the fact that both teams are 7-8. If the season ended today, neither team would make

the playoffs, but their primetime matchup will be loaded with postseason implications. In Week 18, the victor will

have the opportunity to secure a postseason spot, while the loser can begin scheduling tee times and Airbnb rentals.

For their New Year’s Eve matchup, the Packers are 2- to 2.5-point underdogs at sportsbooks. The Vikings, who have struggled with injuries all season,

include tight end T.J. Hockenson (knee), receiver Jordan Addison (ankle), linebacker D.J.

Wonnum (quadriceps), and cornerback Mekhi Blackmon (shoulder). The Packers,

who have struggled with injuries all season, will be up against this struggling

team. Coach Kevin O’Connell of the Vikings believed all four injuries were serious given the calendar.

Hockenson won’t likely play against the Packers, which would be a significant loss for Minnesota and a significant advantage for Green Bay. Hockenson

leads all tight ends in receptions with 95 and is tied for 10th place in the league overall.

Earlier this season, in Minnesota’s 24-10 victory, he caught six passes for 88 yards

and one touchdown. Addision is first with nine touchdowns, second with 826 yards, and tied for fourth among rookie

receivers with 63 receptions. In the first meeting, he caught seven passes for 82 yards and one touchdown.

With eight sacks and fifteen tackles for losses, Wonnum ranks second on the

team. In Round 1, he recorded two sacks and four quarterback hits. Pro Football Focus reports that in the first game

versus Green Bay, third-round rookie Blackmon intercepted three passes and gave up zero catches out of four targets.

The Packers are dealing with injuries of their own. Despite missing two of their best receivers, Christian Watson (hamstring) and Jayden Reed (toe), and

losing promising rookie Dontayvion Wicks (chest) for the second half, they managed to hold off the Panthers 33-30

on Sunday. Wicks responded, “Everything’s good,” when asked if he had any lung injuries
