Nuno Espirito Santo outlines the ‘expectation’ for club record signing at Nottingham Forest

Ibrahim Sangare, the club record signing, is expected to play a major role for Nottingham Forest.

After leaving PSV Eindhoven for the Reds in the summer for a fee of £30 million,

the midfield player has had a difficult start to his career. It has taken him some

time to get used to English football, and sickness and injury haven’t helped him either.

Nuno Espirito Santo has not seen Sangare play in the Garibaldi since the

Portuguese manager’s first game in charge ended in a 3-2 loss to Bournemouth due to a groin issue.

Although it’s not a major problem, Forest is eager to avoid taking any chances with the 26-year-old.

The new head coach has a lot of options in the middle of the pitch. However,

Nuno believes Sangare has the potential to be a key member of his team when he does return.

It is, as you are aware, a large team. Regarding his team selection for the match against the Cherries, Nuno stated,

“We left out some players that are options for us but we have to make decisions.”

Ibrahim Sangare exhibits uniqueness. He is still not at the top of his game. He lost

weight, had a serious illness, and it was in his groin. But he is unquestionably a possibility for us.

I know him, of course, and I count on him to support the group. He can be

extremely useful in his role as a midfielder, in particular.

One of Nuno’s biggest challenges will be to get the most out of Sangare. While

Steve Cooper was still in charge, the midfielder had made ten appearances for the Reds before getting hooked during

halftime of the team’s 5-0 thrashing at Fulham. Since then, he has not appeared in any games.

He has been dealing with the aftermath of a virus that he contracted while

serving with Ivory Coast during the November international break in addition to his groin issue. At the time,

Cooper said that Sangare had been hit “for six” by the illness, which had “knocked the wind out of his sails”.
