Transfer update: Sunderland is seriously interested in a very fantastic player who is currently on loan

Jay Stansfield transfer latest: Ipswich Town talks, Sunderland interest emerges

The Fulham striker is currently on loan at Birmingham City

Birmingham City have endured a tough run of things over the course of the past couple of months.

Ever since Wayne Rooney took over as manager at St Andrew’s to succeed John

Eustace, the Blues had only triumphed in two of their previous 13 league games.

Due to that run, the Midlands club is now only seven points above the relegation

zone in the Championship table, having dropped out of the play-off spots.

Now that the January transfer window is getting closer to opening once more,

Birmingham might be in for another setback shortly.

That player is Jay Stansfield, who is presently on loan with the Blues from Fulham, a Premier League team.

Since joining the Blues on loan from the Cottagers during the summer transfer

window, the striker has been one of the team’s shining stars.

Stansfield has been Birmingham’s highest scorer since the beginning of the season, scoring seven goals in 22 games

across all competitions while dishing up two assists.

As the market is about to rebound, interest in the Fulham loanee is beginning to surface from other places,

though, and Birmingham would suffer a great loss if Fulham were to recall him

and send him elsewhere the following month.

So with that in mind, we’ve taken a look at the latest transfer news regarding

Stansfield to have broken recently, right here.

Ipswich Town is another Championship team that has reportedly expressed interest in Stansfield in recent weeks.

This season, the Tractor Boys have made a fantastic comeback to the second

division; they are presently ranked second in the Championship table.

But prior to January, it appears that a new center forward was on the team’s plan, and George Hirst’s recent injury

may have made more reinforcements necessary there.

Because of this, the most recent rumors from Football Insider state that Ipswich

and Fulham have started preliminary negotiations on a deal that would see

Stansfield move to Portman Road for the second half of the current campaign.

According to reports, the striker’s parent club has not decided on a possible

January transfer yet, but they may be amenable to a deal going through.
