Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers may aim to join the New York Jets in 2024, pulling in number of former teammates.

Not by happenstance, the Green Bay Packers boast the youngest roster in the National Football League.

The departures of Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams by general manager

Brian Gunekunst almost seemed to spark a rebuild centered on young, gifted

players who could still keep the team competitive while looking toward the future.

Thus far, it appears to function flawlessly.

The 2023 Green Bay Packers have more young talent on both sides of the ball

than they have in a long time, despite some obvious holes, especially on defense.

Although Jordan Love has thrived offensively in his first season as the

starting quarterback, the Packers were fortunate to select players who could make an impact right away in the draft.

In his second season as a professional, Christian Watson has flourished when

healthy, but Jayden Reed seems to be the next big wide receiver. Tucker Kraft has filled in for him, and Luke Musgrave

appears to be a top-tier tight end. Despite their youth, the wide receiver group has depth. When their names have been

called, players like Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, and even Malik Heath have all answered.

It’s remarkable to observe, as it’s uncommon for an NFL team to succeed

with a roster this young. A few players on defense, such as De’Vondre Campbell, are getting older and probably won’t be

around in 2024. It’s also difficult to imagine Jaire Alexander coming back at this point.

Preston Smith, who has 45 tackles and seven sacks and is still putting up excellent numbers, will force the team to make a decision.

Smith, who turns 31 next month, has cap numbers of $16.51 million, $17.51 million, and $18.21 million for the next three seasons, according to Over The

Cap. The Packers would only save $2.52 million if Smith were released in the offseason, leaving them with a dead cap

hit of slightly less than $14 million. The fact that Smith’s contract would expire in 2025 is crucial, though.

Smith is performing at a great degree. Financial considerations will probably force the Packers to move on, but he should have no issue finding a new team.

Kenny Clark is another fan favorite who could be persuaded. With 42 tackles and 6.5 sacks in 2023, the two-time Pro

Bowler had another strong season, but as the Green Bay Packers have repeatedly witnessed, he lacks the support up front

to transform the defense into a unit that can consistently create a pass rush and stuff the run.

It will be interesting to watch what the team decides to do with the defensive stalwart Clark, who is due a sizable salary  in 2024.

Positively, it seems like a few of the rookie defensive players for the Packers

are beginning to contribute. Although Devontae Wyatt isn’t quite dominant yet,

he has improved significantly from his rookie season with 33 tackles, four sacks, a fumble recovery, and 3.5 tackles for loss.

In his second season after leaving Georgia, Quay Walker has settled in. He currently leads the team in tackles (103)

and earlier this season, he recorded an interception that he returned for a touchdown.

There will be some gaps in the secondary, particularly if Alexander is

traded this offseason. There are serious concerns at cornerback, but the seasoned safety tandem of Rudy Ford and

Jonathan Owens looks good. This season, Keisean Nixon has had trouble covering, and although Corey Ballantine has

shown promise when put in a pinch, he hasn’t established himself as a reliable long-term starter.
