A Sunderland footballer has gone on trial accused of sexually assaulting and raping a woman he met on a dating site.

It is claimed Jack Diamond “roughly” groped then raped the alleged victim.

The woman, whom he met on Tinder, accepted the 23-year-old winger

Diamond’s invitation to stay the night and they agreed to engage in “cuddling,” according to Newcastle Crown Court.

David Povall, the prosecutor, countered that the athlete “wanted more than that”.

“She eventually agreed, she consented,” Mr. Povall said to the jury. “He punctured

her vagina with his fingers.” He did that, which was consensual, and she swiftly

claimed to have an orgasm to put an end to it.

“He then asked her to hold his penis in her hand as he went to sleep and she did that and agreed to that.”

A short while later, according to Mr. Povall, Diamond woke up and began to

“feel and caress” the woman. She requested him to stop, but he persisted.

He went on, “Despite her protests, he straddled her as she lay in bed and used

a finger or fingers to digitally puncture her vagina.

“This time, she said, roughly, with force, so that it caused her pain.”

After a while, Diamond “huffed and rather sulkily” begged to be masturbated, according to Mr. Povall.

He continued: “She said no, she didn’t want to and she lay with her back to him while, as far as she could tell, he started to masturbate himself.”

The victim was not completely penetrated by Diamond when he forced his penis to her vagina from behind, but the contact constituted to rape, according to Mr. Povall.

The woman said she had agreed to go to Diamond’s house “just for cuddles” in a police video.

Following the sexual assault, the woman claimed to be “sick” and said to the police, “I’ve never felt that way before.” I felt like I was about to pass out.”

She claimed that she heard Diamond typing on his phone after he placed his penis against her vagina and slid her thong to the side, and she worried that he might be attempting to set up a “threesome”.

She claimed to have then arranged for a buddy to pick her up via messaging.

The woman claimed that Diamond said “sound” in response to her announcement that she was leaving.

The woman, Diamond, is from Fatfield, Washington; she denies rape and penetration assault.

During questioning, he told the police that he had denied the woman’s request for “more” and that she had made the initial move to initiate sexual contact.

The trial is still ongoing.
