Auburn RB Brian Battie enters the transfer portal

Brian Battie is on the move after one year on the Plains.

Running back Brian Battie is back in action following a year on the Plains.

Prior to the 2023 season, Battie transferred from USF to Auburn, and 247Sports has learned that he re-entered the transfer portal on Monday. Before spending a year at Auburn, Battie played three seasons at USF. He had one year of eligibility when he entered the portal.

During his time at USF, Battie was an All-American kick returner. He joined Jarquez Hunter’s running back room, which was led by Damari Alston. Serving as the team’s third running back, Battie gained 227 yards and a touchdown by rushing the ball 51 times in addition to receiving seven passes for 52 yards throughout the season. At five feet seven inches, Battie ran as the lead back for USF in 2022 for eight touchdowns and 1,186 yards.

Hunter is anticipated to return, even if he hasn’t decided formally whether or not to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft. As promising young back Jeremiah Cobb prepares for his sophomore season, Alston will begin his third year in the program. Sean Jackson, a walk-on running back who is highly valued by the coaching staff, has also seen some playing time. In the 2024 recruiting class, Auburn did not select a running back.

Battie is the first athlete to enter the transfer portal for Auburn since the

Music City Bowl loss, and he is the 13th player to do so in the 2024 cycle.

Auburn’s movements can be tracked in real time using the transfer portal HERE.
