Sunderland winger Patrick Roberts a big doubt ahead of Newcastle game

Patrick Roberts is still a serious injury doubt for Sunderland’s FA Cup third-

round matchup against derby rivals Newcastle United, according to Michael Beckett.

Roberts was not featured in the victory over Preston on New Year’s Day and hobbled off early in last Friday night’s 1-1 draw at Rotherham United.

The winger has not yet been allowed to resume full training, and while there is

still a remote possibility that he could be included in the team for Saturday’s

midday kickoff, it is currently more likely that he will not play.

Positively, though, the victory over Preston on Monday at the Stadium of Light did not reveal any fresh injury concerns.

Beale stated, “Patrick is a big doubt for Saturday’s game.” “Later this week, I’ll need to give him a call. We don’t currently have any additional injury concerns related to the Preston game.
