Transfer news:Two clubs in talks to sign Aston Villa star who’s fallen foul of Emery

Sources: AC Milan and Inter Milan in talks to sign Jhon Duran after he falls foul of Aston Villa boss Unai Emery

According to sources who spoke with Football Insider, AC Milan and Inter

Milan are in negotiations with Aston Villa to capture Jhon Duran this month.

Milan is the favorite to sign the £17 million striker, who only joined Villa a year ago, ahead of city rivals Inter.

In an attempt to sign Duran for what would almost certainly be a loan for the

second half of the 2023–24 season, the Rossoneri have stepped up their efforts.

However, the forward, who has had trouble getting into games this season

and lost the respect of boss Unai Emery, is also of interest to Inter.

On Sunday, November 12, Football Insider disclosed that Duran is a

“handful” for Emery and his team at Aston Villa in the background.

The manager is said to have questioned the Colombian international’s mentality

several times at the team’s Bodymoor Heath training facility.

The 20-year-old was instructed to significantly raise his game in order to

comply with the Spaniard’s strict requirements.

After a brief absence, Duran has now rejoined Villa and has made 21

appearances overall this season, scoring four goals.

Ollie Watkins is Emery’s clear first choice, and he has only been picked in

the starting eleven six times this season, without a single Premier League start under his belt.

Villa are keen to add a new striker to their ranks this month to make the most

of their stunning first half of the 2023-24 season.

On December 24, Football Insider reported that the Midlands powerhouses

thought forward target Kelechi Iheanacho might be acquired for £5–10

million from promotion-chasing Leicester City.

After 20 games, Emery’s team is in second place in the Premier League.

Their next matchup in the top division is against Everton on January 14.
