Transfer update:Southampton seriously Wants To Sign A Premier League Star Rated At £500K
|Southampton Interested In Signing £500K-Rated Premier League Star
After returning to the Midlands from a loan spell at Bristol Rovers, Aston Villa
teenager Lamare Bogarde is expected to be a target for Southampton and other Championship clubs.
Bogarde, the nephew of former Chelsea, Ajax, and Barcelona star Winston Bogarde and brother of Hoffenheim
defender Melayro Bogarde, has been on loan at Bristol Rovers for the past 12
months, making 36 appearances overall for the League One team.
But in the current campaign, the 19-year-old has only played 976 minutes of football for the Gas, distributed across 18
games overall. This is almost equivalent to 54 minutes per game on average.
Moreover, in the twenty-four League One matches that Bristol Rovers have played
in this season, the loanee has only started eight of them.
Bogarde was supposed to remain on loan at Memorial Stadium until the end of the season, but the team announced on
Friday morning that Aston Villa had called up the young player. However, it is
unlikely that Bogarde will remain at Villa Park for the whole of the campaign.
Football Insider reports that Southampton, Watford, Cardiff City, and
Scottish Premiership team Aberdeen are interested in signing the young midfield
player on a temporary loan that will last the remainder of the season.
According to the source, Villa sent the Dutchman back out on loan until the
summer because they were dissatisfied with his playing time at Bristol Rovers
ever since Matt Taylor took over for Joey Barton in the coach.
According to Football Transfers, Bogarde’s market value is presently
between £250 and £500k, although he is reportedly only paid £4,000 per week.
Author’s Perspective
Bogarde needs to join a squad right away in order to start seeing regular action. Since he started just eight of the 24
League One games that he might have played, the majority of his playing time
while at Bristol Rovers came from the bench.
Southampton might be a very exciting new home for the U20 international team from The Netherlands. For Villa,
another unanswered question is whether he would start every week for a team
fighting for promotion to the Premier League. Perhaps Bogarde would be
better off right now on loan at Watford or Cardiff.
