So sad:Eddie Howe speaks about “big negative” as Joelinton’s injury rocks Newcastle United.

Eddie Howe speaks about “big negative” as Joelinton’s injury rocks Newcastle United.

Joelinton’s derby day injury has been referred to by Eddie Howe as “a big negative” following the Brazil international’s forced substitution at Sunderland in the second half.

Joelinton, a star for Newcastle United, set up the first goal by breaking down the

left and slipping in a teasing ball that Dan Ballard poked past his own keeper. Joelinton was crucial to Newcastle

United’s 3-0 victory. But as a precaution, Howe replaced the South American as soon as United had taken a 2-0 lead.

“We don’t know what that injury looks like, but we did have some training time

and we had a chance to get the players in a much better physical position for this match today,” Howe stated in a post-

game statement. We’ll have to wait and see because it appears that he felt his thigh while changing the play.”

In his post-game press conference, Howe said that neither the recruiting process

nor his ability to fill a specific position was close to completion. Howe said, “We’re not looking in any position

currently, but that may change as the window unfolds,” following the victory on Wearside.

Howe responded, “That’s how we have to look at it,” when asked if the Magpies’ cup victory could turn things around.

What matters most is that the confidence levels go back to where they were at the beginning of the season. At times, we

were playing some really amazing football, and that’s what we want to return to.
