Transfer update news: Napoli seriously interested in signing Aston villa player on a permanent basis.

Napoli preparing to make offer for Barcelona defender, Catalans keen to reach agreement with Aston Villa

The future of Clement Lenglet has been the topic of intense conjecture in recent weeks, as interest in the Aston Villa defender, who is now on loan, has grown. Aside from the previous few weeks, Lenglet has failed to get regular playing time in the Premier League this season.

Lenglet’s parent team, Barcelona, wants the French defender to play as much as possible in the remaining games of the campaign to boost his market value before the summer. It appears improbable that this will occur at Aston Villa at this time.

In order to loan Lenglet to another team, Barcelona would want to recall him this month. Il Mattino (via Sport) reports that Napoli is getting ready to make a bid for Lenglet. This would be contingent upon the Catalans and Aston Villa coming to an agreement to end the current loan arrangement.

Barcelona is in a desperate attempt to offload Lenglet, but not in January. From now until the end of the season, their best chance is to hope that he puts himself in the shop window, but that’s doubtful given his anticipated lack of playing time at Aston Villa. The 28-year-old’s desire to stay with Unai Emery is another piece of bad news.
