Steelers defeat the Ravens and, should Buffalo or Jacksonville lose, advance to the playoffs.

With a 17-10 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, Mason Rudolph’s 71-yard touchdown pass to Diontae Johnson on

the opening play of the fourth quarter helped the Pittsburgh Steelers advance to the postseason.

The Steelers must now wait as Rudolph guided Pittsburgh (10-7) to three straight victories to end the season. If Buffalo

loses to Miami or Jacksonville loses to Tennessee on Sunday, they would qualify for the playoffs.

Amid all that optimism, the Steelers received some unfavorable news. TJ Watt

left the game in the third quarter due to a knee injury. Watt had two sacks to take sole possession of the NFL lead with 19.

Following the game, head coach Mike Tomlin had no update on Watt’s condition.

The Ravens (13-4) already had the first seed in the AFC clinched, and they

prevented MVP favorite Lamar Jackson and several other important players from playing in this game. It was a wet

and windy day, and both teams struggled to move the ball. Tyler Huntley started at quarterback.

Rudolph found Johnson over the middle to set up the one crucial play Pittsburgh

needed as the score was tied at seven. At 3:13 of the game, the Steelers kicked a field goal after Gus Edwards of Baltimore

lost a fumble. Up until that point in the season, the Ravens had not trailed by more than seven points.

In their last eight meetings, the Steelers have defeated Baltimore seven times, all by a margin of seven points or less.

At M&T Bank Stadium, Pittsburgh’s four straight victories are the most by a

visiting team since the Steelers’ five straight victories from 1998 to 2002

“We had a chance to send them home, and now they have a chance to go to the playoffs,” linebacker Patrick Queen of

the Baltimore Ravens stated. Although it hurts a little, our book has a ton of pages that really set us up. There are no

headshakes or anything. We’ll be prepared if we run into those guys again.”
