Latest news:Sunderland is set to lose one of their top targets if Tony Mowbray is appointed Head coach

DIALLO FOR THE TAKING IF MOWBRAY TAKES CHARGE OF BLUES

In light of the possible hiring of former Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray, analyst and former England player Carlton Palmer thinks Birmingham City would be able to sign Amad Diallo on a temporary loan from Manchester United.

Sunderland and Leicester City are also considering signing Diallo. Even still, Diallo’s choice of teams to play for may

be greatly influenced by Mowbray’s possible move to manage the Blues,

especially after he had a great run under him at Sunderland last season.

Last season, in 37 appearances, the Ivorian winger scored 13 goals and provided three assists in the Championship. Nevertheless, injury has kept the winger from having a major influence, even though Man United decided not to send Diallo out on loan again at the beginning of the season. Diallo made his Premier League debut of the year at the end of December in a 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest. Although the winger, who had been on the bench, offered some threat, Forest won the match.

With Rashford back in the starting lineup, Garnacho playing well, and Ten

Hag continuing to select Antony, Diallo might benefit from another loan period

to play more minutes till the conclusion of the season.

In an exclusive interview with Football League World, Carlton Palmer stated that “Diallo has made it clear he would go

back to work for Tony Mowbray” and “I’m sure Amad would be keen to join

him there if Mowbray gets the Birmingham job.”

Palmer believes that Diallo and Mowbray would be better off playing together at Birmingham, but he also believes that

“the player himself might be keen to go back to the Stadium of Light and play for

Sunderland.” Palmer is a former England international.

Birmingham could benefit from a potential loan signing of Amad Diallo as

the club looks to improve in the post-Rooney era and turn around a horrific

run of form that saw just 2 wins in 15 games.

The club also seems to have a decent relationship with Manchester United, in

which the loan signing of Hannibal Mejbri last season saw the Tunisian

midfielder quickly become a fan favourite for his passion and work rate.

Tahith Chong was also a loanee from Man United, who eventually signed

permanently to Blues before leaving at the beginning of this season for newly-

promoted Premier League side Luton Town.

Some Blues fans may remember that the club was interested in bringing Amad Diallo in on loan back in the January

transfer window of the 2021/22 season. However, Blues and Man United failed to

reach an agreement resulting in the collapse of the potential loan move.

But if Tony Mowbray takes over at Blues, it only makes logical that a reunion with Amad Diallo may help both parties—Amad getting more playing time and Blues getting another strong offensive option to help reverse the team’s poor performance.

For the remainder of the season, should Birmingham City attempt to get Amad Diallo if Tony Mowbray takes over as manager?
