Aston Villa’s Philippe Coutinho in fresh transfer claim amid Lionel Messi reunion

Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive brings you the reported interest in Philippe Coutinho

Aston Villa midfielder Philippe Coutinho is reportedly attracting interest from the MLS following a difficult time in Qatar.

The 31-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at Al-Duhail. Coutinho struggled to match his Liverpool form during his time and establish a place in Unai Emery’s squad at Villa Park.

Since arriving in Doha, he has only made six league starts and played a total of 419

minutes in the Qatar Stars League. According to Spanish newspaper AS, his

minor role in the squad could see him move on.

It is claimed he has interest from Inter Miami and LA Galaxy. A reunion with Lionel Messi could be on the cards for Coutinho at Miami after the pair spent years playing together at Barcelona.

It’s still unclear, though, if Villa will receive a call or if he will pursue another loan move.

Before, manager Unai Emery stated the following regarding the choice to loan Coutinho: “Philippe is a very good person and we always have to respect him as a person, first and foremost.” Second, he has demonstrated exceptionally high levels of play.

“He has not been consistent because of injuries and we decided with him speaking and agreeing with him to try

that if something is good for him, and good for the club, and for the squad, we

can let him leave.”Then he can discover his successful play as a player.”
