Major blow:Sunderland ‘super talent’ now a target for Premier League club in January window
|Sunderland ‘super talent’ now a target for Premier League club in January window
This month, Jack Clarke has found himself on the radar of yet another Premier League team.
Burnley made several proposals for Jack Clarke in the summer, which Sunderland handled quite effectively, but his performance this season has only increased interest.
The winger, who scored 12 goals in 26 Championship games, has drawn interest from many Premier League teams, including Brentford, Crystal Palace, and Brighton.
As teams are ready to move on Clarke during the January transfer window, the
Black Cats have already been informed that the “vultures will be circling,” and
another club has since entered the competition to sign him.
The Guardian claims that West Ham is currently pursuing Jack Clarke, whom
Tony Mowbray once called a “super talent.”
After winning their Europa League group, the Hammers want to close the season well. According to the source, they are searching for replacements because they want to let go of Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals.
Clarke isn’t their only target though, with David Moyes’ side said to be also monitoring Ajax’s Steven Bergwijn.
Eighteen months after signing a four-year contract for £15,000 per week, Sunderland has made it clear that they want to keep Clarke on staff. Talks about a new contract have already begun.
Should Jack Clarke leave Sunderland?
Sunderland are going through a rough patch on and off the pitch at the moment though, and even though they sit in sixth place, their chances of winning promotion seem to be rapidly decreasing.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the club’s current situation opens the door for Jack Clarke to leave, as it honestly doesn’t feel like we are going to be the best place for him to be for the next six months.
We are playing boring football, we are struggling to win games and the atmosphere around the club is rather sour at the moment.
