|A Leeds United player should reevaluate their firm transfer stance in light of the upcoming season
Even though Charlie Cresswell doesn’t currently see himself staying with the Whites, things could change in the upcoming season.
Charlie Cresswell, a defender for Leeds United, has not been included in the
team’s starting lineup since Daniel Farke took over.
This season, Cresswell’s playing time has been extremely limited, and Farke does not believe that he is mentally prepared to play.
Potential departures of Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon, and captain Liam Cooper
could affect Cresswell’s future at Leeds and provide him with more opportunities in the upcoming campaign.
Leeds United is pursuing promotion back to the Premier League at the first opportunity as they continue their Championship journey.
Under the leadership of Jesse Marsch, Javi Gracia, and Sam Allardyce, Norwich
City was relegated from the top flight last season. Now, former Norwich City manager Daniel Farke has the
responsibility of bringing Premier League football back to the Elland Road supporters.
In order to strengthen their roster for the grueling Championship season, the
Whites brought nine new players to Yorkshire during the summer transfer
window. The club is currently undergoing a rebuild after being demoted back to the Championship
Despite making 28 Championship appearances at the Den last season,
where he recorded five goals and an assist, Cresswell has been mainly anonymous since Farke’s arrival back in July of last year.
The Preston native has made just four appearances for the team in what
appeared to be a breakout season at Elland Road, totaling just 127 minutes of league play.
For their last fifteen league games, Cresswell has either not been included in the matchday squad or been an unused substitute. This week, Farke stated that
Cresswell is not “mentally ready” to play and that he will not be selected, adding to the speculation about his future.
Even with such a critical remark, there is hope for Cresswell to establish a Leeds future following this campaign.
According to journalist Ross Heppenstall, club captain Cooper’s future is uncertain
as the months on his contract run out and rumors of a move to Championship rivals Stoke City are still circulating
Rodon’s loan agreement with the team expires in the summer, and a permanent move is not a given.
Another player being mentioned as a possible departure from the Whites is
Pascal Struijk, who was rumored to be leaving the team during the summer transfer window.
