John McEnroe claims that Novak Djokovic is unbeatable without “real belief” ahead of the Australian Open, saying that “a few can rise to the occasion but few have.”

John McEnroe feels that only a select few possess the raw material to overcome Novak Djokovic, even with injury being a

factor heading into the Australian Open. He believes that the onus is on the rest of the field to follow in Carlos Alcaraz’s

footsteps at Wimbledon and have’real belief’ they can overcome the Serbian kingpin.

When the tournament takes place from April 14–28, Djokovic will be aiming for

his 11th Australian Open title. McEnroe, however, notes that in the previous two years, he has entered the tournament

with apparent injuries and yet emerged victorious, so he isn’t putting too much emphasis on that and instead stated that

it is all about the other players and whether they share that belief, because if not, they have no chance.

Perhaps his wrist isn’t 100% right now, but that did happen during the previous two years. Despite what looked like injuries, he still won both years.

I’m not sure where he is physically, but people seem to think he’ll be alright. He is technically the best player I have ever seen, both physically and mentally. You

have absolutely no chance of winning unless you truly believe that you can defeat him.

Few players have the ability to rise to the occasion like Alcaraz did at Wimbledon.

Despite his ten Australian Open victories, the law of averages predicts that someone will eventually win another one.

But who knows what will happen—we made the same statement about Rafa [Nadal] at the French.

Hope for Rune McEnroe also expressed his optimism for Holger Rune, saying that he could advance to a higher level if

he and his erstwhile opponent Boris Becker get along. This would only be beneficial for tennis.

Boris will have a different outlook on life in general and his coaching style,” McEnroe stated.

His young player needs to advance further in order to win a Grand Slam. I’m

hopeful that Rune and Boris will make a good tennis team if Rune pays attention to Boris and Boris understands Rune.
