This Auburn Fan Favorite Is Returning For Another Season

The Auburn Tigers are bringing back one of their best offensive weapons.
There’s some exciting news for Auburn Tigers fans.
For a number of years now, Auburn has had offensive line struggles. The Tigers failed to achieve the breakthrough they were hoping for, even after hiring new coaches and making a lot of effort on the transfer site.
Thankfully, one of the bright lights of the offense is coming back. Auburn football’s social media accounts report that running back Jarquez Hunter will be returning for his senior year in 2024.
19 March 2019. I arrived on the Plains for the first time at that time,” Hunter recalled. “I then realized that my dream was to play football for Auburn University. This location, this group of people, and their staff all have a really unique quality. Auburn has helped me in ways that I cannot express.
So with that being said… let’s run it back, Auburn family! War Damn Eagle!”
Hunter has rushed for 2,170 yards in three seasons on the Plains. The Tigers featured Tank Bigsby as their starting tailback during Hunter’s first two years with Auburn. He still managed to eclipse over 600 yards in his first two seasons while averaging 6.4 yards per carry or better.
When given a chance to be the starter in 2023, Hunter barely missed a thousand-yard season, going for 909 yards (5.7 YPC) and seven rushing touchdowns.
With Hunter back, the Tigers will once again have a deep running back room in 2024. Leading a group that includes highly-touted sophomore Jeremiah Cobb (172 yards, 5.2 YPC), Brian Battie (227 yards, 4.5 YPC), and Damari Alston (320 yards, 5.0 YPC)
Considering the incredible receiving potential Auburn’s 2024 recruiting class brings in, the running game will probably be the offensive weapon Auburn relies on this season.
