|Another indication that the Braves have baseball’s best rotation
This offseason, the Dodgers have been all the talk, having added Yoshinobu
Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and Shohei Ohtani to strengthen their rotation. In spite of this, FanGraphs projects the
Braves’ starting pitching staff to be superior to that of the Phillies and Dodgers in baseball.
Of course, there are a number of teams that have superior rotations in baseball.
That being said, I have faith in the Braves’ prospects for 2024.
They have the best starting pitching depth available. Max Fried, Spencer
Strider, Charlie Morton, Chris Sale, and Bryce Elder is the projected rotation. Behind them, though, the Braves have an
abundance of options in AJ Smith-Shawver (who might be ready for an MLB breakout), Hurston Waldrep
(another top 100 prospect), Huascar Ynoa, Reynaldo Lopez, and eventually Ian Anderson (after he heals from
Tommy John surgery). There is just no depth like that in the league, and the Braves have the elite talent to match it.
The Braves were the only team with two starters on the list, Max Fried and
Spencer Strider, which was recently released by MLB Network as the top 10 starting pitchers in the game.
The Braves are the league’s best one-two punch, as I have said many times. When
you combine those two with the depth, they’re a formidable team. Especially since, behind Fried and Strider, Atlanta
has two outstanding strikeout pitchers in Chris Sale and Charlie Morton, who both have a ton of big-game experience. Oh,
and Bryce Elder, Atlanta’s fifth starter, just finished a season in which he was selected to the NL All-Star team.
