Ronnie O’Sullivan’s schedule and fixtures following the Masters to prepare for the World Championship
|Ronnie O’Sullivan fixtures and schedule after Masters in build-up to World Championship
It’s full steam ahead for Ronnie O’Sullivan after The Masters as he turns his focus to winning a record eighth world championship.
This season, Ronnie O’Sullivan hopes to win a record-tying eighth world
championship, but before he can focus on the Crucible, there is still a lot of snooker to be played. By taking home the
first triple crown event of the 23–24 season in December at the UK
Championships, the world No. 1 set a precedent. A strong performance in The
Masters has followed it up, but there will be an even greater event soon.
Should Rocket Ronnie triumph in April at the World Championship he will move
ahead of Stephen Hendry in the all-time world titles list and in doing so will
surely be regarded as the greatest snooker player of all time.
However, there will be a ton more pool to play in front of the world
championship after the Masters final is determined on Sunday night.
On Tuesday, January 15, O’Sullivan will return to competition when he takes on
Junxu Pang in the World Grand Prix’s opening round. A week later, on January
23, the Rocket is partnered with fellow Englishman and world No. 98 Alfred
Burden for the World Open’s qualifying round.
It’s off into Europe then for the German Masters on January 29. Here O’Sullivan
will take on Belgium’s Julien Leclercq in the first round.
Returning home, O’Sullivan will face opposition on February 12 in the Welsh
Open, where he has won four times, from Scotland’s Liam Graham.
The opportunity to win yet another prestigious championship at the Players’
Championship in mid-February exists before the Englishman completes his Group 7 Championship League matches.
Before the Tour Championship is held in the first week of April, the World Open
and World Mixed Doubles are the highlights of March.
The World Championships, which start on April 20 at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre, will serve as the season finale,
however O’Sullivan is not the defending champion. Luca Brecel, the winner of
last year’s championship match against Mark Selby, is given the honor.
