Falcons To Pursue Rams’ Raheem Morris?

With the 24-23 loss against the Detroit Lions, the Los Angeles Rams’ season has ended. While the players will take part in their locker room cleanouts and exit meetings over the course of the next day, other teams will be pursuing coaches, such as Raheem Morris, the defensive coordinator for the Rams, to fill head coaching positions. One of those teams might be the Atlanta Falcons, who are reportedly making former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick their top priority following the firing of Arthur Smith. However, social media speculation that the Dallas Cowboys may enter the Belichick sweepstakes and possibly even trade him away from the Falcons is intensifying in the wake of the team’s loss to the Green Bay Packers. NBC’s Mike Florio touched on this possibility in a brief segment on Sunday.the Rams match

“And if Belichick ends up not being in play in Atlanta, keep an eye on Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris,” Florio said on NBC’s Football Night in America. “… We could see him emerge as the new favorite to become the next of the Falcons.”

After an unsuccessful first season as an NFL coach with the Tampa Bay

Buccaneers (2009–10), Morris has returned to prominence in the coaching

community. Prior to joining the Rams prior to their 2021 Super Bowl-winning

campaign, he held a variety of positions under former Atlanta Falcons coach Dan

Quinn. Morris served four separate positions from 2015 to 2020, one of

which was temporary coach when Quinn was fired. Morris’s tenure with the Rams

has restored his image, despite his lackluster 4-7 record as the interim.

Morris led the Rams to their second-ever Lombardi Trophy victory in his debut season. The defense he oversaw was the

best in the league at stopping the run, giving up only 60.2 yards per game, and

had the third-best passing defense in the league, giving up 222 yards.
